Can you really come out the same day?
Most repair calls, yes — we hold slots open every day for them. Call early and you'll usually get
a window that afternoon. Emergencies get moved to the front of the line day or night.
Do you really answer the phone at 2 a.m.?
Yes. The 24-hour line reaches an on-call technician, not a voicemail box. No-heat calls in winter
and refrigeration failures any time of year get dispatched.
How much does a service call cost?
We quote the diagnostic fee on the phone before we roll, and you approve the repair price before
any work starts. You'll never see a line item you didn't agree to.
Should I repair or replace my system?
Age, refrigerant type, repair history and the cost of the fix all matter. Rule of thumb: if the
repair costs more than a third of a new system and the unit is past ten years, replacement
usually wins. We'll show you both numbers and let you decide.
My AC runs but the house won't cool. What can I check first?
Check that the filter isn't clogged, the supply vents are open, and the outdoor unit isn't packed
with leaves or ice. If the outdoor coil is iced over, shut the system off and run the fan only —
then call us. Running an iced system can wreck the compressor.
Do you work on commercial refrigeration?
Yes — walk-ins, reach-ins, prep tables, display cases and ice machines, plus rooftop and split
HVAC. Priority service agreements are available for sites where downtime costs money.
How much does HVAC repair cost in Delaware?
It depends on the failure, not just the brand of equipment. A capacitor or contactor swap is a
fraction of what a compressor or heat exchanger replacement runs. We quote the diagnostic fee on
the phone and the repair price on site, before any work starts, so you're deciding with real
numbers instead of a ballpark from a search result.
How long should an AC unit or furnace last?
Most central air conditioners run 12–15 years with regular maintenance; furnaces often reach
15–20. Coastal Delaware humidity and salt air can shorten that for units near the coast. Annual
tune-ups are the single biggest factor in hitting the long end of that range instead of the short
end.
What does "same-day repair" actually mean?
It means if you call before early afternoon on most days, we can get a technician to you before
the day is out — not "someone will call to schedule you." Same-day isn't guaranteed on every
call (a rare parts-order situation can push a repair a day), but it's the outcome on the large
majority of residential service requests.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — JEM Comfort Care holds a Delaware Master HVAC Contractor license, the highest tier the
state issues, and we carry full insurance. We'll provide a certificate of insurance on request
for commercial and property management work.
